Basically, I am a Jersey country girl through and through.  I would rather be spending my time with any kind of animal than sitting in an office working 9 to 5.  I spent more years than I care to think about doing exactly that - sitting behind a desk and wondering what my pets were doing home without me.  I would drive myself crazy thinking about how lonely they must feel and worry about them all the time.

I have always had dogs in my life and have only recently felt the extreme emptiness of the loss of my beautiful little girl, Nadia, pictured on the top of all pages and as a puppy above this paragraph.  I feel like I lost so much time with her in her last years of her life, while I spent all that time behind my desk.  I was fortunate to work close enough to home that I could come home for lunch so I could take her out and just be with her for a little while.  But it really wasn't enough.

Reflecting on her loss and how I felt about being away from her (and my birds) while at work, I realized that there are many other people that feel the same way I do about their pets.  They need to have a furry or feathered creature in the life to make it whole but they need to be away from home either for work, or on business, or even on a well deserved vacation.  But it always comes down to, "what do we do about Scruffy or Patches?"  Leaving them in a kennel is not always the best solution.  There are too many strange and harsh noises in a kennel and even though most kennels work hard at keeping their places disease free, illness can result from a kennel stay - not to mention the fleas your pet can come home with.  This is a lot of stress to put on your pet.  Leaving them in their familiar surroundings, at home, would be such a great benefit for them.
